WHAT MEASURES ARE YOU PUTTING INTO PLACE TO COMBAT COVID-19?

We are installing an air purifying technology to inactivate Virus', including Covid-19. Here are the results from an independent testing firm for the system we are installing:

        Time -- % of Covid-19 Inactivated:

        10 minutes -- 84.2%

        15 minutes -- 92.15%

        30 minutes -- 99.4%

WHAT KIND OF DAILY ASSISTANCE DO YOU PROVIDE?

Each resident will have an individual service plan based on their needs.  We can provide assistance with medication management, assistance with dressing, eating, bathing, hygiene, ambulation, and more.

DO YOU OFFER MEMORY CARE?

Birdee Cottage does welcome memory care residents.  We are memory care certified through the state of Iowa.  We have trained staff and specific amenities to help our memory care residents.  An individualized plan will be developed for each memory care resident.  This plan may include but are not limited to:  touch therapy (light massage by on-site therapist), exercise, pet therapy, music therapy, structured day if necessary, outside wander area, and reduced stimulation towards the end of the day.

DO YOU OFFER HOSPICE CARE?

At this time we do not offer hospice care.  Please call our program manager to discuss your needs at 319-300-5177.

WHAT ARE THE HIDDEN COSTS?

Birdee Cottage does not have any hidden costs.  All amenities are defined on the amenities tab.

IS THERE A BUY-IN?

No, the only charge each resident will be charged is a small one-time fee to hold your reservation.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Birdee Cottage is a self-pay facility, although, we do accept VA benefits, Medicaid HCBS Elderly Waiver and Section 8 HUD.  Our program director is available for any questions you may have.

DO I BRING MY OWN FURNISHINGS?

You bring your own furniture and decorations to make the apartment feel like your own.  We can assist you in arranging transportation of your belongings to Birdee Cottage if needed.  You are able to hang things on wall, please have staff assist you with that.  You will not be able to paint walls.  


If you are not able to bring furnishings or would prefer us to provide that's not a problem, just speak to our program director.

CAN I COME AND GO AS I PLEASE?

Your life will continue outside of Birdee Cottage.  If your service plan permits it, you are free to come and go as you please.  We offer parking for one personal vehicle per apartment.  We also offer free transportation within 10 miles if you schedule with the program director.  Please just notify us of your plans when you leave so we don't worry about you.

ARE ALL APARTMENTS PRIVATE?

All studio apartments are private unless you choose to have a spouse or friend stay in the same room.  2 out of 10 rooms have a larger square footage and a double vanity that will accommodate two people.

WILL I HAVE CONTROL OVER THE TEMPERATURE IN MY APARTMENT?

For your comfort, each apartment has individual heating and cooling units.
